The Peninsula Beijing Hits the Road
The Peninsula Beijing held two unique events as part of the China Roadshow in August 2013, showcasing the hotel’s exquisite, world-class catering services and the unmatched creativity when organising events outside of the hotel.
The first event was a stylish cocktail reception held at Bei Hai Park where, for the first time, The Peninsula arranged a special outside catering event at Swift Snow Hall, part of the Park designed during the Qing dynasty (1644 – 1912 AD). Featuring classic Chinese architecture, the royal site is one of the most prominent monuments of the surviving Qing gardens. Over 70 travel agents and corporate clients attended the soiree, enjoying sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a lucky draw and a presentation highlighting the latest developments within The Peninsula.
The hotel then hosted a second event, a dinner for 40 of the capital’s most prominent media representatives. The five-course contemporary Chinese dinner was themed around the recently launched Peninsula Academy programmes – the children’s chocolatier and kite-making activities and the popular Hutong tour programme - with impressive decorations including menus displayed on pretend chocolate bars and kites representing the children’s activities, and on a traditional chalkboard representing the Hutong tour. Guests were entertained by the soothing sounds of a Chinese flute performance throughout the evening.
Both events were a great success with commendation from hosts and guests alike, and The Peninsula Beijing looks forward to the China Roadshow 2014.
