The Peninsula Beijing Silver Anniversary Edition
Pioneering the return of western hotel management to China, Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels limited started its first joint-venture with Jianguo Hotel, Beijing in 1982 prior to securing a management contract with the The Palace Hotel Beijing in July 1990. As a monument in the capital, The Palace Hotel was the tallest structure in Wangfujing Street when it opened on March 1989. Its five-star accreditation was announced from the National Tourism Administration during its first year of operation under company management, in 1991. That year also saw the advent of The Palace Arcade, later re-branded as The Peninsula Arcade, which was an introduction into the world of luxury goods for the Chinese capital.

Commemorating the hotel’s silver jubilee, The Peninsula Beijing presents a wealth of over 25 different dishes at its international buffet restaurant this March. Also to watch out for are iconic birthday surprise dishes, inspired by those served on the very first day the hotel opened its doors 25 years ago. Furthermore, a range of offers from discounted room rates and exciting food and beverage promotions will delight guests throughout the month.

The Peninsula Beijing has been the venue to many splendid evening balls, has hosted significant historic events, and has welcomed a plethora of world leaders from the realms of politics and culture. The anniversary gala held on 06 March 2014 was in honor of the staff members’ family spirit, which makes up the iconic hospitality of The Peninsula Beijing. This most-awaited evening became a celebration commending the people behind the quality of service that has exemplified pure excellence over the years.

The Peninsula Beijing management also presented a commemorative book entitled “Our Peninsula Family” – a series of stories from 25 of our most passionate staff members who have displayed dedication and perseverance, truly bringing inspiration to the next generation.
