Peninsula Beijing Hotel unveils the most vibrant Peninsula Art Residency
Following the success of the abstract art and minimalist style of "Ink Light" by Zhang Zhaohui, The Peninsula Beijing welcomed Ms Chen Yu in her "Flowers and Non-Flowers" series as the second Peninsula Art Residency exhibition this 2014.
Veteran contemporary artist Chen Yu is probably one of the most well-known and accomplished female artists of the time. Since 2002, she has participated in more than 20 group and solo exhibitions, most notably the 'Prestige Des Galeries D'art' in Paris. By 2009, the works of Chen Yu have been displayed in galleries around the world and the artist has gained widespread recognition and praise for her exquisite works of art.
Chen Yu’s Flowers and Non-Flowers collection represents this season with a touch of femininity as she pulls her charismatic technique from the intricacy of a quintessential oriental woman. Her bold and accessible style is generally realized on canvas, which is then finished with a lacquer type effect giving her works an unusual sheen.
At her exhibition May of this year, media guests and friends from the art world exchanged insights with her on both Chinese and international art as a collection of over 42 of her works were hung in the first, second and third levels of the hotel corridors. The Peninsula Beijing has also prepared a special Art Suite by converting one of the suites into an actual “working” art space allowing guests full access to explore the journey of art within The Peninsula.
